Mystic's Equations

Jnana = - Illusion = Mind - Expectation
Jnana Yoga = Mind - Expectation

Karma = Action
Karma Yoga = Actionlessness = Action - Expectation

Bhakti = Devotion
Bhakti Yoga = Devotion - Expectation

Yoga = Union = - Expectation

Karma Yoga - Action = Bhakti Yoga - Devotion = Jnana Yoga - Mind
Action = Devotion = Mind
Action = Devotion = f(Intellect)

Functioning = f(Action, Devotion, Intellect)
When Action = Devotion = Intellect,
Functioning = NULL
----> Hence, nothing ever happens

Jnana Yoga = f(-Expectation)
Karma Yoga = f(-Expectation)
Bhakti Yoga = f(-Expectation)
----> Hence, Jnana Yoga = Karma Yoga = Bhakti Yoga

Yoga = Mind - Expectation
But, without expectation there is no mind. So we have:
Mind = Expectation
Yoga = 0
----> Yoga is complete in itself, it can also be termed as nothingness. 'I Am not yet I Am' may be apt way to express this.

Learn

Learn to speak without words

Learn to see without eyes

Learn to hear without ear

Learn to feel without touch

Learn to enjoy the fragrance without smell

Act outside but learn to live inside

Prostrate in front of idol but learn to see god in yourself

Doesn't matter if you cannot speak politely externally but learn to see oneness of everything inside you

Ask questions but learn to see that questions are not yours

Learn to unlearn everything to dissolve in unknown

Visible but Invisible

I bow to that

It is always visible but you cannot see it

It wants to tell you but you are not ready to listen to it

It brings up contexts to tell you, but I pity your inattention

You keep searching it, will never find it, simply because you search

Even if you find it, you don't want to see it, and you never give up your search

Even if I beg you to see it, you will not

What use is your knowledge and intellect when you cannot see the obvious?

I bow to that

It is indeed visible but invisible.

Guru's Birth

Guru takes birth only when you completely surrender.

Till then Guru doesn't exist for you.

When Guru takes birth, he makes sure that you do not exist anymore, and this he ensures by making you himself.

Shiva's Third Eye

Popular belief is that when Shiva's third eye opens, it destroys the world and therefore Shiva is known as destructor.

Well, let's try to understand it's inner meaning. If you notice, Shiva's third eye is half open, and that represents an inner eye, observing 'I'. Complete opening of third eye represents that the observation is at maximum intensity causing destruction of 'I' and when 'I' is destroyed, world created by 'I' also is destroyed.

Basically destruction caused by Shiva's third eye represents destruction of individuality that kills so called an individual, which marks emergence of supreme, the ultimate, the One.

Loneliness and Aloneness

Loneliness means you are living devoid of others support or company. Loneliness causes sorrow, you long for someone's support, someone's company, someone's care. In short, loneliness is cry of an individual.

But Aloneness is majestic, it is unified one. There are no others when you are alone. In Aloneness, there are no others, so you don't long for others company, all that exists is you. This state has neither happiness nor sorrow in it, Aloneness is the capsule of ultimate bliss. In short, Aloneness is song of the soul, the spirit, the One.

Normal and Eccentric

When you imitate others, then others will call you normal and natural.

When you are spontaneous and natural, world calls you eccentric and mad man.

Just see that world is not apart from you and then world disappears. Then who cares about what?

Sixth Sense

Intuition without intention is sixth sense.

That which is said without an intention is bound to happen.

It is not about predicting what is going to happen but it is about happening of what is being said.

I am not saying this to create interest in such things. I am just listing one of the properties of maya that lures you.

Focus on that which is beyond senses. Sixth sense is also a sense, what a waste!

Urge to Discuss Spirituality Should Go

Urge to discuss spirituality should go.

That urge should not be a bondage for you.

Spirit which is you, is all. So there is nothing special you have when compared to others.

Don't fall for this trap.

Not discussing it unnecessarily is great spiritual practice in itself, because when you do that, you are asserting the truth of one spirit in all.

Even if you discuss unnecessarily, you should be clear within you that you did something extremely foolish and disown your action.

Shiva Linga -- Story of Bondage and Liberation

Ocean gives birth to innumerable number of waves. Reality is that, wave cannot be separated from ocean as such, but if wave claims its individuality then that's an illusion and wave is bonded in its own illusory assumption. In this analogy, ocean is infinite consciousness and wave is a Jiva. Jiva assuming individuality, creates and imagines material that it owns and struggles to acquire and protect it throughout it's imaginary lifetime.

You might have seen Shiva Linga. Ellipsoid structure of the linga represents infinite consciousness. Surrounding boundary represents Maya, primal illusion that has no starting and no ending. When Maya seem to surround infinite consciousness then Jiva comes into being. Ash and other materials such as butter, milk, sugar, turmeric, flowers etc etc applied on Linga (can be seen Figure left and center) represents materials that Jiva assumed as its own. On top of Linga, container filled with water is tied which drips water drop by drop (as seen in top right Figure), this water washes away slowly and steadily the materials that is stuck to Linga. Here container filled with water represents wisdom, using wisdom and discrimination slowly and steadily Jiva gets detached to material that it created from nowhere and assumed to be its own. Once Jiva clears all the material attachments to itself, Jiva becomes free and liberates itself. That is, Jiva becomes Shiva.

This is the beautiful story of bonded Jiva meeting its beloved to become eternally free and unite with Supreme.

This lore of bondage and liberation of Jiva is encoded in our daily ritual of worshiping of Shiva Linga.

Ananta Padmanabha - Secret Key to Liberation

Ananta is the lord of snakes, that you see in the above picture. Ananta means infinite. Ananta has infinite heads, representing infinite perspectives. Mind always points to only one perspective, and gets trapped. When mind is trapped it creates external world and looks outside always reasoning about or searching something in one direction at a time. As you can see in the above picture, Ananta is looking inwards towards it's body, which represents Mind looking inwards. Infinite heads represent a Mind with infinite perspectives.

A Mind with infinite perspectives is no mind, it is actually void. When you look inwards at your real Self you are actually looking at God. Similarly, Ananta with infinite heads turns inwards and is looking at God in the above picture.

When one finds his real Self, he is said to be at complete rest. That state is an effortless state. It is pure consciousness and that has no movement at all and is in absolute rest. Lord Padmanabha resting in the above picture represent that completely effortless state.

Animate and in-animate take birth from pure consciousness alone. That means creator of world takes birth from pure consciousness. Brahma connected to Lord Padmanabha by an umbellical cord represents creator and creation taking birth from pure consciousness alone.

Because we do not know that we are free, therefore we are free.

Miracles are Obstacles

Keep away from miracles. Especially when you think it is working through you. Why?

Miracle is something that which you do not understand. If you think that you are capable of doing miracles, that means that you are capable of something which you do not understand. Which in-turn means that, that which you do not understand can bind you and you won't even know because you don't understand anything in this process.

Claiming miracles is simple an obstacle for you. Do not claim any miracles, do not give them importance. Let world praise you, let loved ones encourage you, but do not move. Let world enjoy useless miracles, you stay silent.

Guilt is like Dust on the Mirror

What happens when there is dust on the mirror surface? You cannot see yourself clearly, sometimes you see something else, illusion of a black spot on your face may appear and you may be worried because of that.

Similar thing happens when you have guilt. Guilt is one of the greatest enemies of seeker of truth. It is certainly like dust on the mirror and does not let you see yourself properly.

If you want to see yourself clearly in the mirror known as spirituality, then there should be no guilt whatsoever in you.

How to remove that guilt is your problem, not mine.

Clarity and Confusion

What you call clarity is confusion for me

What you call confusion is clarity for me

My confusion is complete and now you cannot ask me, how to achieve clarity?

Happiness not greater than Sorrow

Everyone hates sorrow

I must tell you that, happiness is equally dreadful

Both are same

Detaching with sorrow and attaching to happiness is like, enjoying the pleasure of scratching an infected wound. It feels so good when you scratch it, but because of that, wound gets bigger and then it feels ugly and start to pain.

Therefore, both should be treated a like. It is not required to express as if you treat them alike, but within it must be clear that you are dealing with equally treacherous entity when you are happy.

Bliss is not happiness. Don't keep mixing these concepts. Bliss doesn't depend on both happiness or sorrow, even in extreme sorrow, firm realization that this is something that is not happening to you is the bed of blissfulness where you rest while your body seem to be reacting, shedding tears.

Hypothetical Situations

By all means try to avoid hypothetical situations.

These situations are just distractions, nothing else. Focus on what is here and now.

Saturday, July 13, 2013

Gross and Subtle

Gross depends on assumptions. Assumption about 'I', assumption about the reality of the unreal, so on so forth.

Subtle doesn't depend on assumptions. In subtle, very basis of both gross and subtle is seen.

For the same reason gross cannot help you in knowing about your real nature, because assumption about 'I' becomes the hurdle and keeps you in ignorance.

Gross is the goal of an ignorant.

Subtle is the goal of the seeker. Seeker is cautious about assumption of 'I' and tries to find out and ofcourse succeeds.

Seeking knows no failure. By all means question everything, not externally (gross) but internally (subtle).

Roller Coaster

Senses try to take you on a roller coaster by fueling judgements, opinions, interpretations, emotions and so on so forth.

See that you are the space in which roller coaster moves, and not the crazy, super scared or momentary excited passenger/rider.

Just keep quiet to avoid being a rider.

When Observer is Observed

When observer is observed

-- experiencer becomes the experience

-- mind becomes still, although there are thoughts, they don't seem to be yours

-- there is only a pure perception, which is prior to knowledge, and for the same reason there is no knowledge of perception either

-- body and mind are not seen, although they are seen at once, like waves are seen but far from your sight, waves are not seen and only ocean in its completeness is seen

Diamond cuts Diamond

As Sankhya darshana mentions that Prakriti creates bondage and only Prakriti frees from bondage where as Purusha is  the substratum of everything, omniscient, eternal, omnipresent and changeless.

In another words, it's only through maya, you can be freed from maya.

It is that last desire for liberation that liberates even from that last desire.

It is those last words that can erase all other words and itself.

It is through mind, mind cleans itself and realizes it doesn't exist and becomes still.

It is through that last effort you realize effortless freedom.

It is through 'I' you realize you are not 'I'.

So on so forth, limitless reflections reflecting themselves creating numerous colors, shapes and intensities while substratum remains the same which is plain, changeless light.

I Know What Is Not

I do not know what is meditation, but I know what is not

I do not know what is reality, but I know what is not

I do not know what is knowledge, but I know what is not

I do not know who am I, but I know who I am not

I do not know what is silence, but I know what is not

I do not know what is freedom, but I know what is not

I do not know what is love, but I know what is not

Imitation

Someone told me this true story that there was this person who wanted to prove that saints are fake and it is super easy to trap people by imitating like saints etc. So this guy wanted to create a documentary about all this fraud. So this guy dresses like a monk and starts reaching people, gaining their trust. Soon plenty of people started trusting him, he was being revered by these people. Without his knowledge, he became a real monk and he was slipping into meditation now and then and he left all his job, his money everything. This all happened without his knowledge.

With this story I am not supporting the actual frauds that happen in the name of saints. I am just saying that when an expressesion tries to imitate the reality, it simply dissolves.

Some day my expression will try hard to imitate reality and that day my words, actions, this blog is bound to dissolve. I will not need any platform to pour my words anymore. Neither I would need any words nor any action to express myself. From saakaar brahman this will become niraakaar brahman.

Greatest Trap

Greatest trap is seeking perfection in actions and through words.

It is confusing expression with reality is the greatest trap.

How hard you may try, perfection through actions or words is not possible.

If you think some person has achieved perfection through actions or words, then you are trapped, forget about that perfected person.

Truth Seeks You

What is more powerful? you as an individual or Truth which is basis of your existence? Ofcourse it is Truth, there is no second opinion about it.

Beautiful love story is here: when you seek Truth, it is not you who is seeking Truth, rather it is the Truth that is seeking you and Truth never fails although you as an individual will fail because of your pride in your individuality.

So it is absurd to say, will I ever find Truth? Ofcourse you cannot but Truth will find you, there is no failure there.

Stop questioning and doubting your current understanding about Truth.

You know when mother tells her little kid that "Son, play for sometime alone at home and I will come back soon from market". That kid plays so peacefully knowing that his mother will come in anycase no matter what. Now that kid will surely fail if he goes out to find his mother in a crowded market, but his mother will not fail to reach her kid.

Such is the beautiful love story of seeker and the Truth.

Running Behind

Running behind consistency makes you in-consistent

Running behind happiness, brings sorrow

Running behind answers, brings more questions

Key lies right where you stand, there is nothing to run behind

Learn from Elements

Space does not interfere in our fights, and it doesn't feel proud of itself for supporting the whole creation

Air does not apologize, neither it feels guilty for blowing hard and hurting someone. Also one cannot flatter air and make it blow smoothly

Fire does not feel sad if it burns something valuable and it does not take revenge

Earth does not expect you to thank it for supporting you unconditionally

Water can even crush mountains with its force, but it does not claim its victory

These elements make up our identities and still we are deluded. Is this not illusion? Is this not maya?

O' mother Parameshwari, mahamaaye! shower grace on us and free us from delusions.

Ignorant, Seeker and Master

Ignorant always wants and desires something, he works for it and gets it.

Seeker whenever desires something, most of the times he doesn't get it.

Master can get everything by his will, but he never desires for or wants anything.

Not Mine Then It's Universe's

If I don't claim something as mine, then that something becomes universes's property.

If I don't claim myself, then I become universes's property, I become universe itself.

More Conscious -- Less Desires and Vice Versa

Lets consider two important cases to discuss this topic:

  1. Deep sleep state
  2. Waking state
I am not discussing dream state because I see it as identical to waking state.

In the first case, in deep sleep, we do not have any desires, did you notice why? Because there are no gaps in consciousness and infact you are pure consciousness itself which means fully conscious of consciousness. Consciousness in it's totality means no illusion, no individuality, no duality or fragmented reality. When there is no duality or no individual then there cannot be any desires.

Second case, waking state is tricky. In waking state, there are gaps in consciousness. Now what does this mean? When you are present in now and here, then you are actually intensely conscious. When you are lost in past and future, which are illusory concepts then you are not completely conscious. You are then kind of sleep walking. So in other words, delving in past and future creates gaps in consciousness in waking state. On the other hand, if you notice, imagining past and future creates a personality or existence of an individual. When individual comes to an existence then desires become part and parcel of such an individual. Hence, more the gaps in consciousness more will be the desires and more individuality and bondage caused by duality.

Good and Bad

From standpoint of reality and ultimate, there is no Good and Bad, because of their dependency on each other for existence.

From standpoint of a seeker, anything that frees you is Good, anything that binds you is Bad.

 But on top of everything, see that you are already free, but to know it, you need to entertain concept of Good and pursue it through Sadhana.

Seeing is Freeing

Many people complain that certain enlightened person does not practice what he/she preaches. Why take example of someone? I read somewhere criticism about Jiddu Krishnamurti that he didn't bother to practice what he taught world. Even I used to criticize sharply people who used to not practice what they used to teach.

Finally I understand that you can't do anything about anything. All you can do is see and be aware. That's all is there to do. So don't expect anyone to practice what he/she says, it is not possible. If someone practices what he teaches, then that's just a coincidence. Enlightened people are great witness of everything that happens around and inside themselves. They don't need to be part of some action or pattern.

At the end seeing is freeing. Neither any action, nor any effort can free you. You may also debate that seeing itself is action. I would say no. I will end this post here, words doesn't reach beyond this.
